Profitable Weekend

It's nice to look back on a weekend and see that you actually accomplished something, isn't it? This weekend while Geoff wrote his last 2 papers for the school year, I bebopped around doing things here & there. On Friday night, I set out to be frugal in my grocery shopping. We have an Aldi's pretty close to us, but I hadn't been going because it is out of my way & I wasn't too impressed with the store when I first moved here. Well, after reading through some frugal-minded blogs (see my link for the Indian Monk), I decided I needed to be a better steward of the money God had given me. I was surprised to see all of the things that we use so often, and for so much cheaper! After Aldi's, I set out for Wal-Mart, local outlet store, & the grocery store.
I have to interject here a good deal that I got at our mini outlet store here. Since I began walking, I've been using a sports bra that I got before marriage & to be honest it wasn't doing a great job. I looked at Kohl's which is nearby & usually has good deals on that kind of stuff, but all they had were $40 bras! As if I would pay that much for something I'm only wearing 30-40 minutes a day. At the outlet, I got a name brand one for $5. Nice!
On Saturday, I straightened up our house, went to our church's camp to help clean & get ready for this summer, weeded out my flower beds & planted some seeds, made dinner, and crocheted. We went to church on Sunday, ate lunch, I took a nap while Geoff slaved over a paper, I proofread his paper (what wife of a student doesn't?), & went to bed. Nothing spectacular, but profitable.
I'm kinda hanging on the edge of whether to try out Body for Life Challenge or not. I guess I could, & if I don't like it, just quit - doesn't that sound promising!

Wow...sounds like you got alot done! That is always a great feeling. I felt like I got alot done this past weekend as well, but I still have a list to do before by family starts coming in tomorrow!

Don't you love finding great deals??

My, oh my, you were productive! I am a newly converted Aldi shopper and it really saves us money. I still buy a few things from a regular grocery store (my hubby doesn't like cheap peanut butter). My problem at Aldi is that I often veer away from my list and put all sorts of other cheap stuff in the cart because it's so cheap!

I too am a semi-professional proofreader. Matt had two big papers to do for the end of the semester and he's on page 12 of paper #2. I didn't have the nerve to read his first paper - 42 steenkin pages long!

Keep up the great work on the jogging/walking routine!

Pam. Good job on being so productive. I find relaxing is so much more enjoyable when I've accomplished a lot! And way to keep moving! (And great work with the sports bra!) I've been able to get into a good exercise routine in the past few months too, and I love how great I feel! Sorry I can't offer any advice on the Body for Life thing.

WOW!! You did get a lot done! I too have become more of a frugal shopper! I am not a big one to go into Aldi, but I just know that it is so much cheaper! I try to hit Aldi's and WalMart every Friday. We even went to BigLots yesterday and found so many deal there! I haven't been to one in years! I was so impressed (even if it did take me an hour and a half to walk through it).

Great job on find all those good deals!!!

I have to say I am an Aldi fan. However, I have been to bad ones. The two by my house are nice and clean and the food is fresh.

Ben is just like Matt Horn - no cheap peanut butter for him!

Pam, only you would tell the world how you found a great deal on a sports bra. Thanks for giving me a good chuckle tonight! I was already feeling convicted that I have not managed to exercise once this week even though I am on vacation and actually have time. I'll be out there huffing and puffing tomorrow morning and I'll be thinking of you "somewhere out there..." :)

I forgot to mention that I'm an Aldi's shopper too. I've always lived by nice ones, with pretty good produce. But, I'm not sure I'll be so luck in Detroit. :(

Good for you for getting so much done. I am now rewarding myself with blogging b/c I cleaned our whole kitchen top to bottom, drawers, cabinets, and everything. I did enlist Stephen's help with Esther so I couldn't have done it in a few hours without it. It's such a good feeling to have it clean!!

aldi by our house smells funny. i went in there a few times and i really tried...but i'd rather hit meijers any day. i just have this thing about smelly grocery stores. i can't bring myself to do it. i used to drive to the meijers 20 minutes away b/c the close one smelled so bad. of course, that was when gas was cheaper and we were both working and livin' large. now (ptl) there's one really close to us and it smells great. there's a new one going in even closer too. i'm so excited.
