Refreshed

We had such a nice time in NJ this weekend. Originally we were going to try to get to the campground Friday night, but due to inclement weather, we decided we would rather sleep in a nice dry bed rather than a wet one. :) This worked out perfectly! Geoff was able to write a paper that was due on Monday morning & I made sure we didn't forget anything too important. Saturday morning we woke up nice and early & headed down to the shore.
I drove down, so my hubby could do some reading - not too uncommon for us during the school year. In Ocean City, we headed for the boardwalk and enjoyed the mostly cloudy weather (but no rain!), wild ocean, and the beach shops & food. It was enjoyable to sit & rest on a bench to watch the ocean waves, surfers, and other brave beach goers - it was a little chilly. While on the boardwalk, we ran into friends of ours, Doug & Stephanie Gardner, who were taking a weekend off too. Funny how we live 15 minutes apart & never see each other, but then run into them 2 hours from home.
Later that afternoon we set up our camp and relaxed for the rest of the day. Well, I took a nap & Geoff did some reading (he has a 40 pages per day quota). Later, he got a campfire started (after we ran to the nearest convenience store & picked up a free newspaper) & we had a typical campground dinner of roasted hot dogs and s'mores. Yum!
On Sunday we relaxed in Cape May & walked in the ocean for awhile - my first time in the Atlantic. It was a picture perfect day: blue skies, a couple cumulus clouds, very few people on the beach, and the green ocean.
We got home around 6:30 or so - plenty of time for Geoff to get some reading done (Have I mentioned how disciplined Geoff is in his school work?).
The best part was the 4-5 times Geoff said, "This is so relaxing. I don't have to do anything. I'm really enjoying this!" I was so glad to hear this because he deserved it. After 4 years of seminary, working full time & working a part-time job, he deserved some time away from deadlines, papers, projects, and just being pulled into so many directions. It was very nice to have some one on one time together, and I will cherish that knowing it won't happen again until December.

It sounds like you guys had a WONDERFUL weekend away. Heston's parents love Cape May. I have been to NJ but not to Cape May. Hopefully you will be able to find more weekends to get away and get refreshed. I am glad you had a good time!

Awesome weekend, girl! My hubby is the same disciplined way about his schoolwork though he tries to do a certain number of hours of writing per night, and then as much reading as he can. Does your hubby know any speed reading techniques?

That ocean walking sounds so soothing and romantic! Was it very cold? Do we get to see any pictures?
