Friday Survey - Firsts

Well, you know life is getting pretty boring around here when you have to pull out a survey for a blog post. :)
These questions are about the firsts in life.

1. What was your first date like? When was it, and where did you go? What did you do? Did you have a good time?

My first date was with my hubby. I had prayed for a year before that my first boyfriend would be my husband & the Lord graciously allowed that. He asked me to the 2001 Valentine’s Banquet at our college. He asked 2 hours before it started (long story). After eating, we headed over to the Beauty & the Beast – Northland version & laughed & laughed and laughed. We had a good time, and the next day I found out my friends had set everything up (that goes with the long story). I didn’t think anything else would happen after that, but surprise!

2. Who is the first person listed in your phone/address book? How do you know that person, and do you keep in touch often?

Probably Jonathan & Victoria Anderson. Jon & I have been friends since 2nd grade. He gave me the chicken pox, and I gave him on of my cat’s kittens. When we lived in OH, my mom used to watch kids in her home daycare & Jon was one of them, so we were good buddies until I moved away back to CO. We saw each other for the first time in 10 years & met each other’s spouses last fall when his wife’s sister got married in our area. We do the occasional e-mail & Christmas cards now.

3. What's the first music album that you ever bought yourself, with your own money? Do you still have it?

I bought some classical music CDs when I was in high school at Best Buy for $2 ea. I use them occasionally now, but used them quite a bit when I was a teacher. It’s very calming music after a long day.

4. Do you remember your first day of high school, or perhaps your first day at college? What was it like, and how did you feel?

After being home schooled for 3 years, I was a nervous wreck to go back to school-much less high school. Thank goodness it was a small Christian school. We shared a locker, which was a good thing, because I had never ever unlocked a padlock before. I just followed locker partner around since we were in the same grade and had the same schedule-well, until I headed into band class with her. Uh-oh. How do I get back to the class I’m supposed to be in? I backtracked and made it on time to sit with the other new girls and to get checked out by the boys during study hall. At the end of the day I remember saying to my mom when I got into the car, “I think it’s going to be ok. It’s not that bad.”

5. Have you had any "firsts" recently ~ perhaps within the past month?

I taught my new Sunday School class of 4th grade girls for the first time last week. It was fun to teach again.

Go ahead & answer these for me! Or just choose one.
I was thinking while I was doing this it would be nice to hear of everyone's love story of their spouse. Maybe I'll work on that post for next week. Have a great weekend.

My first date (alone) date was with Stephen. I'll never forget it, because we had always hung out together as friends and then when it was just us two, at first, we both felt this incredible pressure, like wow this is weird. We both were so scared to say anything because we didn't want it to mess up, but as you know both of us that didn't last long and by the time we got back we were chatting away. We went to Olive Garden in GB by the way (1 1/2 hour drive) and that was the time he asked me to 'officially' start dating him.

2. Who is the first person listed in your phone/address book? How do you know that person, and do you keep in touch often?

My phone book is my cell phone - so the first person listed is 'Baby' for Stephen. That way he's only a phone call away and boy do I call that number a lot.

Can't remember

4. Do you remember your first day of high school, or perhaps your first day at college? What was it like, and how did you feel?

I remember my first day of college significantly. I had lived at Northland for so long, played games in the Founder's Center, etc, but had no clue where any classes were or anything. It was different being on that side of the fence. :)

Yes, I got to reunite with my extended family as a mother. That was fun taking Esther to the place where I grew up, even though she'll never remember it.

Go ahead & answer these for me! Or just choose one.

I always love finding out just how *small* this world is;). Jonathan and Victoria Anderson are the brother-in-law and sister to one of my closest friends:o). This world keeps shrinking and shrinking and one day we're all going to bump into each other:D

Anne,
Too funny. We were at the end of the rehearsal in the auditorium of the wedding waiting for it to finish up, so we could go out for dinner. Were we in the same room at the same time? :) Small small world. It is neat to see & find connections with believers.

That IS funny because I do recollect that they were going out to dinner with some friends from this general area... I was a bridesmaid in the wedding, so that would mean we had no clue who each other was but we were both *there*:o)

my first school sponsored date was in 10th grade. it was a banquet and i went with my good buddy kevin. we had a good time. everyone from our crew of friends had a party at my house after. the next year was my first "alone date". i went to a haunted house with one of my other buddy's dave. tons of people met there and we all had a blast.

2. Who is the first person listed in your phone/address book? How do you know that person, and do you keep in touch often?

anisha flower tops my list. my cell phone is my phone book too! she was one of my high school teachers and now she helps run the nursery at church. we've become more friends since i'm older now. nathan and i love their family...actually i taught their oldest daughter too. funny, huh?

3. What's the first music album that you ever bought yourself, with your own money? Do you still have it?

i don't remember the ones i bought, but i know the first ones i received. two discs of hymns and the messiah on two cds. my dad got them for me for christmas the year i bought my first cd player. i think i do still have them.

4. Do you remember your first day of high school, or perhaps your first day at college? What was it like, and how did you feel?

i remeber high school, but we had all grown up together and we thought we ruled the roost so high school wasn't a big deal. college though! wow, was i freaked. i had no clue what to do. my mom was dropping me off, and when we pulled on campus one of my friends just happened to be the ra greeter at the top of the hill after security. what a relief. i just told him to tell me exactly what to do b/c i had no clue! that helped a lot.

5. Have you had any "firsts" recently ~ perhaps within the past month?

this has been my first "longer than a weekend" without nathan. not exactly a bragging rights first, huh?

pam, i love your surveys. they are a great post idea....and love stories would be so funny to hear! great idea.
