Quick Survey

Everyone has a name for their grandparents. I didn't really realize this until I moved to PA. Growing up where I did, it seemed like everyone used the same name as we did, but lo & behold, there are a lot of ways to address your parents' parents! I'd love to hear what you call you grandparents & what your children call your parents (or what you'll teach them to say once they learn to talk :).
1. What do you call your grandparents? When we were young, we would call them Gramma & Papa, but as we grew up it evolved to Grandma & Grandpa.
2. What do your kids call their grandparents?

What do you call your grandparents? I called my mom's parents...PopPop & MomMom, my dad's parents...Grandfather and Grandmother (now we call her Gram).

What do your kids call theig grandparents? They call my parents...Grandfather and MomMom, Kevin's dad is Grandpa.

Good questions Pam. I from PA and I know what you mean when you say there are TONS of different names for Grandparents!!!

Well, we just had the normal names for ours - Grandma and Grandpa. But we do periodically come up with new nicknames for our parents for some odd reason. like...
mumsy
Dear Old Dad (always in caps)or D.O.D. for short
mudder & fodder

at our church there are tons of gramma and grampa names. i called my dad's parents, gramma tally and papa. my great gramma was gramma sanders or gramma susie. my mom's parents were always gramma and grampa sugarbaker.
now connor (when he can talk) will use grampa and granny b for my parents. momma and poppa jo-g for nate's. and my grandparents will still be gramma, papa and gramma sanders. then nathan's grandparents will be g-momma and g-poppa. (this was what nathan thought up for his niece when she started talking and it stuck). you should have heard my mom when she was trying to decide what she wanted to be called. she went through tons of names. she wanted to be oma b/c of her dutch heritage...but then discovered that it's also used in germany. one heil, oma! from me and that was out. :)

Hey!
Haven't been here in a while. To us it was always Grandma and Grandpa, although on my mom's side the other cousins used Nana and Papa. I could never get used to those nicknames so I never used them!

Heather, I have heard so many strange names for grandparents. I would be embarrased to call my grandparents some of them. :)
Kristi & Liz, Hi! Liz, I checked out your new blogspot blog. Very nice. Kristi, Your website looks great.

Nate's grandparents were always Nana & Baaboo (the oldest grandkid started it and it stuck.)

Mine have always been Grandma (now Gram) & Grandpa. And my Gram's stepmom, who is only a few years older than she, is Granny.

I think it's cute when kids call their grandparents something different.

Sierra calls my parents grandpa & grandma and Steve's parents Nana & Papa. It's just easier so she knows who we're talking about; except Steve still hasn't figured out Nana, he keeps calling her Nanny.:)
