Has anyone else wondered what happened to cute costumes for girls? If I had daughters, I don't think I'd allow them to wear 80-90% of what's being sold in stores now! It seems like our little girls are being robbed of their childhood & being pushed into looking more like women - I'm not talking about ladies, but women. How sad!
Honestly, whatever happened to good old fashioned imagination where you use what's around the house & maybe a couple things from the thrift store to make a costume or dress-up outfit?

Perfect PERFECT time to let them go out of the house dressed like that, too...going DOOR TO DOOR with who knows who handing out candy. YIKES. Some sicko's dream come true.

That's crazy. Even the "regular" clothes for girls these days are getting more and more grown-up/adult looking. I don't know what society is thinking - better yet, I don't think they are thinking! We can only pray for God's wisdom and guidance during these crazy times! I hope you have a boy - they are SO much easier! he he he

I don't think it makes it easier to have a boy - just think of how over-sexualized the world will be when they hit puberty. That is a sobering thought.
I completely agree with you. What's worse in my mind is the marketing for regular girls' clothing in most mainstream stores. Have you seen how target and kohl's are pushing the teenage/junior looks into the girls' sections?! It's ridiculous. Little girls are being told by the world that too look older is better. What happened to sweet little girl dresses? I'm convinced we'll have to do a lot of sewing for Chloe or shopping online as she gets older so we can preserve the sweet innocent little girl look as long as possible.
Even the lingo out in the world is changing due to younger girls "growing up" quicker. Age 9-12 girls are now labeled as "tweenagers". Crazy. But as Christians we shouldn't expect things to get any better as the world continues to degenerate and we look forward to Christ's return!

It's definitely disturbing. I'm not a parent yet, but I do see the effects of this worldly dress culture even in the Christian teens in our youth group. What are their parents thinking? Do they just not notice, or do they allow it because they afraid their kids will feel left out or different?
