Friday Survey

Yesterday there was news about the government sending out checks to some tax payers (I'm hoping I'm one of them!), and then there's thinking about filing taxes and hoping for a nice refund, or just hoping you don't have to owe if you're not planning on it! So, here's a fun survey about what you'd do if you had a windfall!

1. If you were to get a unexpected windfall, what is your first thought on what to do with the money? Were you practical or not?! Practical-down payment on a home, pay off my car to be entirely debt free, put some in savings for retirement, etc.

2. You have $1000 to spend on yourself. What do you buy? With $5000? $1000-new living room furniture $5000-put towards a down payment on a home

3. You have $1000 to spend on something for your home. What do you buy? With $5000? $1000-living room furniture $5000-appliances for our new home!

4. You have your windfall and you realize your car is older than you. So what do you buy? A crossover car with the third row seat. Then with the leftover money a new Ford Mustang! :)

5. You decide to buy some books with your windfall at Amazon. What 5 books would you get? One on how to make babyfood, a couple parenting books, and a couple fiction books by some of my favorite authors.

My answers were kinda boring. Anyone else wonder what they'd do with a windfall?

So glad you're back to doing your Friday surveys! I've missed them. :)

1. Not practical - I'd want to splurge one a really yummy expensive dinner date out with my hubby. I'd order a huge steak and get all dressed up. I'd also get my haircut and styled someplace that costs more than $10. :)

2. A new wardrobe! New bookshelves that all match and a dining room table set.

3. Oops, already kind of answered that one. With 1,000 I'd probably do living room furniture with a pull-out bed. With 5,000 I'd love to repaint everything and get hardwood floors throughout the house. And refinish our basement. :)

4. Hybrid station wagon (if such a thing exists). Saab station wagon would be my dream! In black. :)

5. Complete works of Dickens and C.S. Lewis. I'd also get a nice looking set of all Shakespeare's works for Matt. Oh, and all the Curious George, Dr. Seuss, Karen Katz, Coco, Paddington, Curduroy, and Richard Scarry books ever written for Chloe & Clive's book collection. :)

I have an AWESOME baby/toddler food book called "First meals" by Annabel Karmel. It goes from baby food all the way through 2-3 yrs. of age with healthy recipes, suggestions for freezing, and fun-looking party foods. Check it out!

I agree - I like your surveys!

1. If you were to get a unexpected windfall, what is your first thought on what to do with the money? Were you practical or not?! My first thought is to pay off our little debts, then pour the rest of the money into the eager money-eater that our house is! So, I guess that is practical of me!

2. You have $1000 to spend on yourself. What do you buy? With $5000? $1000 - vacation time with Michael!! $5,000 probably would save for emergencies, or look into replacing the old clunker car.

3. You have $1000 to spend on something for your home. What do you buy? With $5000? $1,000 would finish up a few rooms - I'll pick the bathroom and Aaron's room. $5,000 would buy us new siding! Hurray!

4. You have your windfall and you realize your car is older than you. So what do you buy? Hmmm...I think a Jeep Grand Cherokee would be in order. Or a newer mini van. I really like our mini van - must be getting old!!

5. You decide to buy some books with your windfall at Amazon. What 5 books would you get? One on homeopathic remedies, some cookbooks, a new Bible and a comic book for Michael! ;-)

1. I'm with Alicia--splurge on a nice dinner, and maybe a day trip to NYC with my hubby with theatre tickets. (Or, I could go on a shopping spree--I do love new clothes, as frivolous as it may sound)

2. With $1000, I'd save it for our next trip to visit family--Poland is next on my list. With $5000, I'd remodel our guest bathroom

3. $1000 New dining room furniture and some nice patio furniture for our back yard/patio.

4. I'd like to get a Nissan Altima with heated leather seats and an remote start function.

5. Oh, man, it's too hard to narrow it down. Here's a stab: a book on classical education, some good fiction from one of my favorite authors, an American poetry anthology, a good world lit textbook, the complete works of C.S. Lewis.
